A study of decision support systems in terms of the roles an individual assumes in developing the components of a DSS, i.e., DSS builder, intermediary and technical adviser. Included are topics in expert systems and artificial intelligence.
Prerequisite: MIS-309.MAJOR OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE:
The purpose of this course is to allow the student to:
- Develop an understanding of the use of DSS's in modern organizations.
- Be able to use current tools and technologies for developing distributed DSS's.
- Understand the role of intelligent agents in modern information systems.
- Create multiple information systems and user documentation using rapid prototyping techniques in a Visual Programming Environment using Microsoft FrontPage, Active Server Pages, and ASP.NET technologies.
- Become familiar with rapid development using pre-existing components for Internet-based applications.
- Solidify understanding of object-oriented systems analysis, design, and implementation.
- Develop the ability to uncover and use advanced reference materials via the Internet.
