Quick-Inc Guide to Business Entities

Special Note: The Finance portion of this course will begin where Dr. Moya ended last semester. There will be no review. You are expected to know all that Dr. Moya covered and remember it. If you need to review that material or remedy any deficiency in your understanding of it, you have until SPRING BREAK to do so. - Dr. Hawley

Assignments:

By January 27:

  • Create and submit to the instructors a description of your group structure, roles and responsibilities, and "how to get yourself fired.
  • Conceive and select TWO business ideas with mission statements and general descriptions of the product/service to be offered, with justification for how they will meet ALL of the required criteria for the project.

Also, get familiar with the tremendous volume of resources on Inc.com, particularly the following:

Build a Strong Business Plan, Section by Section
This guide directs you to resources that can help you construct and improve each section of your business plan. The outline of what to include is excellent and should be used along with Writing a Convincing Business Plan to guide you through the construction of your business plan.

Also explore Entrepreneur.com, especially the great How to Build a Business Plan on that web. This is a decent description of what goes into a good business plan, although your plan would be a bit light if this all you did. Still, it's a good start, and the site provides many links to other resources.

And last but not least, check out the vast materials at www.startupjournal.com, especially the MiniPlan tool, which will help walk you through some basic decisions that you need to start thinking about.
